Locals have been left dumbfounded after two women from Dzivarasekwa got arrested for failing to maintain social distance in a Kombi.
The women are reported to have been coming from work when they boarded a Kombi with no Zupco sticker.
This might have ended them in trouble after they got caged.
The two women were fortunate enough to have a loving boss who rescued them and shared their story.
Their Boss via Wellence Mujuru’ social media platforms wrote:
Hi Wellence please post for me
Two of my employees got arrested in dzivarasekwa.
The arresting officer known as Mike informed them they were arrested for getting in a kombi isina kunzi zupco.
I then called Dzivarasekwa police station spoke to a “seargent major” anonzi “ngururu” then he told me they actually got arrested for hitchhiking.
I protested then they reffered me to inspector matope officer in charge of operations. He then told me their charge is failure to maintain social distance in a vehicle which is a public space.
So to avoid further stress for these two ladies l agreed to pay fine under protest.
Has anyone ever been charged for this crime. What does the law say. All officers refused to show me this law.
