A 58-year-old Beatrice woman sexually abused her three minor sons on different occasions after telling them she was preparing them for adulthood.
The woman sexually abused her sons — twins aged eight and a six-year-old last year.
She appeared before Chutungwiza magistrate Noel Mupeiwa who slapped her with a 20-year jail term. She will serve an effective 16 years after 4 years were suspended on condition of good behavior.
She shared a room with them and made them sleep on the floor, from where she would pick them up to the bed one by one and sexually abuse them.
Nyandebvu told the court that the woman told the sons that she was preparing them for adulthood and threatened to starve them or abandon them if they refused her advances or reported the acts to anyone.
Eventually, she abandoned the children and they were taken into the custody of a step-grandmother in Chitungwiza.
In other news, iHarare had reported that two Grade 1 pupils from Mbaza Primary School in Nyanga were allegedly killed on their way from school on Tuesday.
Their bodies were dumped in a disused toilet pit about 2km from the school.
